I created this work in the fall of 2023, with the intention of entering it into the Contemporary Mosaic Art juried exhibition in Eugene, Oregon, in May of 2024. I was pleased to learn that it was accepted and was shown at the New Zone Gallery in Eugene from April 30 – May 31 2024.
Rhythm and Renewal takes a discarded piece of jagged, rusty metal and gives it new life as the focal point of a new wall sculpture. I’m thinking about the traditions and rhythms of the past as anchors to ground me as I move through life. Always juxtaposed on the order is the ongoing journey through the messy and the unknown, with the goal of crafting a satisfying life.
